Hi,
I would like to promote a small, online Doctor Who discussion group that I started about 8 years ago before I had a local fan group that I could easily meet with. The idea was that the members of the group would all watch the same Doctor Who stories in a certain time frame and then discuss them together by email. It's much like an online book club except that it is all Doctor Who related, and we watch DVDs, listen to CDs, and read books.
We call the group the Doctor Who Media Review, and we run it through Yahoo Groups. We've kept the group going for a long time now with a very small number of active members, so it is an extremely friendly community with some great people from around the globe. However, we could really use some new blood, particularly from people who would be willing to participate by watching, listening to, or reading some of the stories with us and then posting some comments once in a while. It's not a big commitment - we cover one DVD per month, a few audio stories, and a short book, and we try to cover material that is easily accessible. You can go at your own pace, you don't have to do every story, and you don't have to write really in-depth reviews - just join in the conversation and post your thoughts about the material that we cover. It's easy, and it's a fun way to enjoy the adventures of our favorite Time Lord.
Originally I created this group for people who maybe could not find a fan club in their area, and I think it would still be a good option for those folks. However, I have also found that in my local group, I'm usually having so much fun socializing with the other fans that we rarely get around to talking too much about the actual episodes. So the Doctor Who Media Review often fills that gap for me. If this group sounds appealing, you can join at www.dwmr.net.
Thanks!
