On Australian TV: While watching the recording of last weekend's Six Million Dollar Man, I caught TV1's ad for September. Among the programs TV1 will show in the month is the Star Trek 40th anniversary marathon and it included the Interactive Trekker Trivia. One question from the Trivia was shown briefly and it was: Who was the creator of the original Star Trek series?
Options 1 and 3 are of definite interest to Who fans: 1. Sydney Newman 2. Chris Carter 3. Russell T. Davies 4. Gene Roddenberry
Looks like the Trekker Trivia was set up by a Who fan.

At my club I got to see the first six episodes of the final season and the sixth episode, the 200th episode appropriately named 200 is full of sci fi references. There is even one from Doctor Who when Mitchell played by Ben Browder utter the phrase "reverse the polarity". Ben Browder was among those who was asked what he thought of Doctor Who's return to television in 2005 and it is most likely that he may have adlibbed the phrase into the episode.
The phrase came out of the blue and so glad that Doctor Who got included with all the references.

"Reverse the Polarity" is such a generalised phrase which I am sure BB used more than once whilst doing Farscape. No doubt I am sure such phrase may have been used on Star Trek.

As far as I'm concerned, the only person whoever said 'Reverse the Polarity' was Jon Pertwee. ;D

Well it has been a long while since I watched Farscape so I do not remember if he ever used it on the show. I also found out that the phrase was used in post original series Star Trek. As with Farscape, I do not remember ever hearing it on any of the Star Treks as it was such a long while ago. The phrase is basically Doctor Who property because if you type in "reverse the polarity" at Wikipedia it directs you to an article about the Third Doctor.

Good ol' Wikipedia. ;D
Yep, Doctor Who, the home of many things including the TARDIS, the Daleks, Tom Baker and the phrase: "Reverse the Polarity of the Neutron Flow!"

Actually I'm watching Star Trek (the Original Series) DVDs and in the 2nd season episode "Who Mourns for Adonais?" Spock says "Reverse the polarity." a couple of times.

But he didn't add "neutron flow" to the end of the sentence did he though?

True, Spock mentioned no neutron flow but from what I gathered neither did Crichton... ehm, Mitchell in the Stargate episode.

Well, I don't watch that much other Sci-Fi so I don't know these things.

Spotted this one on 'You've Been Framed' (ITV1, Saturday Evening).
For anyone not familiar its one of those shows where they air funny video clips sent in by the public and Harry Hill (a comedian) adds a funny commentary.
This one is a little obscure and I almost missed it:
The clip is part of an army training clip. Can't remember what happens that makes it so amusing (probably someone in the background shoots themself in the foot or something like that). In the foreground is a recruit in a gasmask and Harry utters the words "Are you my mummy?..."

I just bought Mr. Bean DVDs and remembered that in the episode "Merry Christmas Mr. Bean" he's at a mall playing with some of the toys on sale and among them there's a Dalek.

This month here in Australia, Discovery Channel shown the three part documentary series Sci Fi Saved My Life which looks at the facts behind some of the popular sci fi movies. Surprisingly there were Doctor Who references in the last two of these episodes. In the episode about Men In Black, it had a Dr Mark Lythgoe who is a neuroscientist at the University Cambridge London Hospital. He talked about the prospect of seeing aliens when all of a sudden on-screen there was a flash of a picture of a Silurian. In the last episode The Terminator which I saw yesterday the episode talked about a miniature tank known as the TALON a picture of which is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foster-Miller_TALONSince it has wheels narrator David Mitchell asked whether it could climbed up stairs and it is shown that it could with Mitchell saying "TALON 1, Daleks 0". Obviously he hasn't seen Remembrance of the Daleks and for that matter the current series as this documentary was made this year.

Last night I saw the season 1 final of Extras with Patrick Stewart and a toy Dalek appeared. This was in the scenes when Andy was in a meeting with the BBC executives about making his sitcom and the Dalek is very visible in the background.
Quite a nice surprise.

I began watching the fifth and final season of Teen Titans this morning and this is of particular interest to us Who fans given the appearance of the new enemy The Brain. He looks like this: www.tangent21.com/data/brain2.jpg
