2013-14 series
The Blood Is The Life: Series opener. The beginning of this series of Dracula starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Quite lavish that ball that was thrown by Dracula. Intriguing when Dracula found Mina to have a strong resemblance to his dead wife Ilona. Not a bad beginning to the series.

2013-14 series
A Whiff of Sulfur: Episode 2. Guest stars Jemma Redgrave in the first of three episodes as Minerva Westenra. This episode came on November 1 2013, just 22 days before her second appearance as Kate Stewart in Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor. Not bad and the one scene that got my attention was when Mina told Dracula about wanting to be doctor when she was a girl but wasn’t taken seriously because of her female gender. As Dracula says about those naysayers, “So, what.” Also quite a gamble that Dracula takes on Lady Jayne.

2013-14 series
Let There Be Light: Series finale. There sure was light here. Completely terrifying with Lucy’s full transformation into a vampire with her mother her first victim. Horrifying what happened to Browning’s children thanks to Van Helsing and what the children then do to their father. Van Helsing is now on a path to revenge on Dracula. The series ends leaving in wonder where it would have gone from here.

The Rules of the Beast: Series opener. The first episode of the Dracula series by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. Terrifying opener especially towards the end when nuns gets killed. Further shocking on how this ends on a cliffhanger.

2020 series
Blood Vessel: Middle episode. This does not immediately go into the cliffhanger to the previous episode. Steven Moffat did the same in Doctor Who: The Witch's Familiar which concluded the previous episode The Magician's Apprentice. Dracula is a passenger on the ship the Demeter. I see what Moffat and Mark Gatiss did there as vessel is a also a word for ship and how much Dracula craves blood. Playing Dr Sharma is Sacha Dhawan. This came on January 2 2020 and the previous day Dhawan was in Doctor Who: Spyfall Part One in which his character O was revealed to be the Master. Incidentally the said The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar featured Dhawan's predecessor as the Master, Michelle Gomez. Blood Vessel is not the first time that Dhawan had performed in a narrative written by Gatiss as he was in the Sherlock season 4 opener The Six Thatchers and before that played first Doctor Who director Waris Hussein in An Adventure in Space and Time with Moffat as executive producer. Blood Vessel has a character named Dorabella played by Lily Dodsworth-Evans. Undoubtedly it was Gatiss who named this character as he had used that name before in his Doctor Who episode Victory of the Daleks with Moffat as showrunner, the unseen woman that has Bracewell's love. I was surprised to find playing the Duchess Valeria is Catherine Schell. According to IMDb prior to this she had retired from acting in 1996. Intriguing that Dracula has a conversation with Sister Agatha and cuts to and fro of events of the ship. Enthralling as it sets up Dracula's attack on his fellow passengers and he sure got a surprise at the end.

2020 series
The Dark Compass: Finale. The series had started in 1897. Now it jumps 123 years to this year 2020 as that is how long Dracula was in the water after the Demeter before getting out of it. Having played Agatha in the previous two episodes and briefly in this one, Dolly Wells also plays her descendant Zoe Van Helsing, having made her first appearance as Zoe at the end of the previous episode Blood Vessel. As well as Agatha, Dolly Wells is very impressive as Zoe However Agatha still makes an impact here with what she was given here. As well as co-writing this episode, Mark Gatiss, in his acting capacity turns up here as Frank Renfield and for this version of Renfield, he is Dracula's lawyer! Horrifying Lucy still being conscious in her body which appeared to be dead as she got cremated at her funeral and what she became afterwards! Enthralling climax when Zoe exposes Dracula to sunlight only for him not to burn up as the legends say.
