Night of the Hunters: Penultimate episode of season 2. Van Pelt and his rival Von Richter hunts Alan. So it was a struggle with Peter and Judy’s help for Alan to thwarts off these hunters and it was enjoyable how they fought off these challenges. Not bad the framing storyline of the raffle tickets and ironically it is Aunt Nora who costed Peter and Judy in winning the most number of raffle tickets being sold.

The Plague: Season 2 finale. Peter is very ill but that does not stop him from going to Jumanji with Judy. After their encounter with the Manjis, Peter and Judy returned to Brantford when he got treated by the doctor who says that Peter has the Norwegian Pluracy. Fearing that the Manjis got infected by the Norwegian Pluracy, Judy gets the doctor to Jumanji but it also took a sick Peter with them. Not bad involving the doctor in Jumanji but something he forgets about afterwards. Also funny when the doctor says about how everyone he sees is sick, a joke about what his profession entails. The Plague featured a volcano and Jumanji (2017) cast member my wife Karen Gillan was near a volcano in her Doctor Who debut The Fires of Pompeii. The Plague is the thirteenth and final episode of Jumanji season 2 and The Wedding of River is the thirteenth and final episode of Karen’s second season in Doctor Who. Coincidentally I recently saw Scandal 4.18 Till Death To Us which like The Wedding of River Song also featured a wedding which the respective episode titles refer to.

The Three Peters: Season 3 opener. As a result of damaging the board game, Peter is split into three. Fun seeing three different versions of Peter as Judy and Alan battles the situation of this episode. While Jumanji (2017) cast member Karen Gillan didn’t exactly play three Amy Ponds during her time in Doctor Who there was instances in which two Amelia/Amy Ponds were seen together in The Big Bang, Space/Time & The Girl Who Waited. In fact in The Girl Who Waited, the two Amys answer a question with both responding “I am” is similar to the Second and the Third Doctors saying “Me” at the same time in The Three Doctors. The Three Doctors of course is similar in The Three Peters as both feature three versions of the same character. At the end of The Three Peters, Judy says that three Peters is one too many but one of him is perfect and it is similar in The Three Doctors when the Omega problem was solved in which the Brigadier says that one Doctor is more than enough.

Young Alan: Season 3, Episode 2. Thanks to Ibsen, Peter and Judy travels back in time in Jumanji to when Alan was their age and newly arrived in Jumanji. Interesting seeing what it says in the episode title knowing the man young Alan will become. Peter says “Houston we have a problem” the analogy referring to astronauts having trouble in space. Jumanji (2017) cast member Karen Gillan herself had travel in time in Doctor Who which included an experience with The Impossible Astronaut. Just as the Jumanji episode had Peter and Judy meeting Alan in different points in his life thanks to time travel, Karen also met a man in different points in his life that of Canton Delaware III in the said The Impossible Astronaut and its conclusion Day of the Moon.

The Intruder: Season 3, Episode 3. Very bold of this children’s animated series starting off this episode with Peter watching an R-rated movie. It is here when Peter and Judy encounter the episode titular intruder in their house and the intruder got dragged along with Peter and Judy to Jumanji. Very fun incorporating the intruder into Jumanji and due to his experience who could blame him for surrendering himself to Officer Bentley with a desire to go to jail.

Oh, Grow Up: Season 3, Episode 4. Peter becomes upset after he was refused entry to a rollercoaster due to his small height. Eventually this leads to Peter in Jumanji getting from Trader Slick an elixir that makes him big and very big at that. Problems does not end there as he soon given another elixir this one that makes him very small. Luckily this all gets resolved in the end with a little of the giant elixir left enough to bring very little Peter back to his normal size. Well handled and enjoyable plot of Peter in his very big and very small sizes. When he was very big, Judy says that Peter was a walking Statue of Liberty. Curiously enough Jumanji (2017) cast member Karen Gillan’s Doctor Who swansong The Angels of Manhattan had featured a kind of a walking Statue of Liberty. Just as Oh, Grow Up is part of Jumanji’s third season, The Angels Take Manhattan is part of Karen’s third season in Doctor but narrowly missed each other in the exact season episode placing. Oh, Grow Up is the fourth episode of the third Jumanji season whilst The Angels Take Manhattan is the fifth episode of the third Karen Gillan Doctor Who season.

Return of Squint: Season 3, Episode 5. This episode sees the return of the pirate Squint from the season 2 episode Eye of the Sea. Good fun adventure that takes place on a submarine. The problems on the submarine sure got exacerbated the moment Squint took command of it. The problems at the submarine in the sea reflected the framing story of Peter swimming in school. It began as a problem but a problem that got solved at the end. As well as pirates, this episode also featured Sirens*, Jumanji (2017) cast member Karen Gillan also encountered pirates and a Siren in one of her Doctor Who episodes The Curse of the Black Spot. As Return of Squint is an episode of Jumanji’s third and final season and it featured a submarine, Matt Smith’s own third and final season as the Doctor also has an episode that takes place on a submarine that of that season’s ninth episode Cold War.
*Written in dedication to my Siren wives Elle Macpherson, Kate Fischer, Portia De Rossi, Pamela Rabe and Tara FitzGerald.

Armageddon: Season 3, Episode 6. Peter and Judy goes to Jumanji in response to Alan calling for help. Here they find its inhabitants behaving out of characters and eventually discovered that Jumanji is coming to an end hence the Armageddon of the title. Good resolution which involves letting things go.

Love Potion: Season 3, Episode 7. This episode featured a redhead girl called Cindy and Jumanji (2017) cast member my wife Karen Gillan is also a redhead. Judy buys a love potion from Trader Slick in order to get a boy from school to notice. The love potion does not work on immediate family and therefore Peter is immune from it and it sure caused mayhem when every non-related member of the male species wants her. Quite yucky what Judy had to do to remove the effect of the potion. Coincidentally I saw The Librarians (3.7) And The Curse of Cindy which as one can see also has a character called Cindy written by Doctor Who writer Gareth Roberts and has a similar premise to this Jumanji episode and both episodes are 3.7s. Roberts only wrote two episodes featuring Karen as Amy and both in limited appearances but The Librarians episode has Cindy (Rachael Perrell Fosket) received the kind of love that Karen’s Selfie character would like to have had.

Sorceress of Jumanji: Season 3, Episode 8. Upon returning home, Peter and Judy to their shock found that Aunt Nora has sold everything in the attic in a rummage sale including Jumanji. Jumanji was sold to a nasty old lady called Ms Desmona. Ms Desmona soon plays Jumanji and gets into that world along with Peter and Judy. It turns out that Ms Desmona is someone that Alan had known from his youth. Thanks to a book from Trader Slick, Ms Desmona becomes the episode title sorceress. What a nasty sorceress she has become but what a team Alan, Peter and Judy made in defeating the sorceress and solved their clue in the process.

The Ultimate Weapon: Season 3, Episode 9. The said episode weapon is the Trans-Vector a device which activates a portal to a nightmare world. Interesting how the Trans-Vector is the latest clue with its destruction enabled Peter and Judy to go home. Quite funny what Alan, Peter and Judy did to find about the Trans-Vector. The episode begins with Peter’s friend Donny moving away but learns at the end the importance of keeping in touch as Peter sends an email to Donny.

Who Am I: Season 3, Episode 10. Coincidentally not long after I finished this episode I saw the most recent similarly named Arrow episode Who Are You. Not only that the Jumanji and Arrow episodes are the tenth episodes of their respective seasons. Who Am I is the tenth episode of Jumanji season 3 while Who Are You is the tenth episode of Arrow season 5. Although the Jumanji episode came out in 1999 and the Arrow episode came out more recently this year 2017 they have broadcast calendar dates with the Jumanji episode broadcasting on February 11 1999 and the Arrow episode on January 25 2017. Who Am I is the body switching episode with Peter and Judy found themselves switching bodies as a lightning ball which is an experiment by Ibsen. They are other body switches here including the switches between Alan and Van Pelt’s bodies. So it was unusual seeing Van Pelt, even it was Alan in Van Pelt’s body, being on the side of Peter and Judy. A very fun body switching episode and this whole experience certainly helped Peter, now back in his own body, in playing baseball at the end. Peter says to follow through on something and this made me think of Selfie 1.9 Follow Through starring Jumanji (2017) cast member my wifeKaren Gillan.

Nothing to Fear: Season 3, Episode 11. Episode starts with Peter having a nightmare of him being naked in school. Frankly I rather see and I have seen my wife Jumanji (2017) cast member Karen Gillan naked. This leads to Alan, Peter and Judy facing off their fears in Jumanji thanks to Ibsen. Very good on how the trio faced off their fears and to defeat Ibsen. As long as one can overcome it, there is truly Nothing To Fear.

The Doll: Antepenultimate episode of season 3 and the series overall. The episode title refers to a voodoo doll. While it did not have a voodoo doll, The Crimson Horror, the antepenultimate episode of Matt Smith’s third and final season as the Doctor did feature doll-like situations. Peter came across the said doll after having a hard time at school, baseball and home. Peter sure had fun with it until it stop being fun when she froze Judy and could not be thawed and had to get back to Jumanji to find the way thaw her out. Judy sure let her Peter known what she thought about being frozen at the end.

An Old Story: Penultimate episode. The episode title is due to Peter and Judy growing up at a rapid rate to the point they are now at old age. This is because their latest visit to Jumanji they went into a whirlpool which is responsible in their advance in ageing. Their efforts to be kids again saw them finding cooperating with old adversary Ashton Phillips. Phillips double crosses them but he ultimately got what he deserved by this action and fortunately are back to their normal kids selves.
