Maybe what some of us should do is write our own scripts, post them in the Fan Fiction section of the forum, and then we can make up our own minds as to are they better or worse than what's being shown on the Television. Should we?

I think hes a very interesting Dr....I like his swinging from humour to serious which he does very well....although Ecclestone was good I think in some ways Tennant is developing a deeper and more interesting character....

Should we? I would but I have no idea how to write a script. Thus it would probably be worse than what we get anyway.

As Doctors go I thing Tennent is going just as good as many of his predicesors. Yes some of the 'stories' have been less then favorable but you have to look to the character and his preformance not to the story he is in. Tennent can no more help the level of quality in the writing of the scripts then Chelsea can help that Shevchenko is a has-been. He is a good actor playing a role that has over 40 years of fandom. Keep that in mind when doging the guy for the not so briliant storylines he is given to work with.

Tennant has been brilliant lately, in terms of acting. Just look at 42.

His doing well as Doctor 11, Series 3 is his best performance yet! Doctor number 10 not 11 this is his ninth regeneration but yeah this has been a really good season so far.

A little romantic tension is okay (as far as I'm concerned). It makes things interesting. But it's true, you add too much and the Doctor becomes Captain "Different Alien-Girl a Week" Kirk. God forbid.

I think that it says something that one of the (arguably) best tennant era episodes yet, Blink, was the one he was almost completely excluded from.
I don't think he's a bad doctor by any means, but he seems to me to be a lot of flash without a lot of substance. I guess its just details like in Tooth and Claw when he puts on his 'clark kent' eyeglasses to read the library books up close, but pulls them away from his eyes to view the diamond up close. Perhaps it is minutia but it subtley reminds us all that they are just for show.
Sometimes he plays the character boldly and well, but other times he makes me feel like he thinks pretending is the same thing as acting. I'd rather see him accept the roll more completely and reveal a little of his real self through the character rather than always trying to keep himself so separate from the roll he's playing. It just makes his character feel less like a real person to me.
I think Eccleston did a better job of this, even if he had some questionable action scenes, I was more convinced of who the person was he was trying to portray.

So its been a while since anyone posted anything here and I thought I would ask and see what people think now that he has had a few more seasons under his belt?

I really like Tennant as the Doctor. I saw the rest of series 3 & some of my most favorite Doctor Who episodes are now in that series. Silence in the Library & Forest of the Dead was really good & really creepy. The Stolen Earth & Journey's End are both really good episodes. I like the way that Tennant has protrayed him. I hope he sticks around awhile longer, but it doens't look hopeful.

I don't think Tennant is a great Doctor. He is inconsistent. I think it depends on the right director. In some episodes he is very good, but in others, he overacts. He overdoes it with the humor. He is too silly and that spoils the joke. I still prefer Eccleston. He had more gravity to him. Tennant is kind of a lightweight in comparison. For an example of Tennant at his worst, watch "The Idiot's Lantern". He reminded me of Ace Ventura in that. I blame the director for that one, because Piper was awful too. I'm not saying Tennant is without his charm as the Doctor. He is usually likable, seems intelligent, and the hair is great. (Wish he could manage it without the use of hair products, though). Sometimes he is very good, but he tends to overact and I think it takes the right director to reel him in.

Last I saw, Tennant's still voted the number one Doctor of all time.
