a couple of Reference Guide ideas?...
« Thread Started on Sept 10, 2008, 9:46pm »

As I have no idea in the effort it takes to create a decent website, I am probably about to suggest stuff that would require a massive job to undertake, so I apologize...

As you are probably more than aware the main page is forever increasing in length with many audios still being produced, many comic strips and of course the ongoing TV series! I am wondering if it is worth considering having the ability to minimize or hide each Doctor's section so that there is less to scroll through.

My second point is this: Currently if I wanted to read say the synopsis of Rose and then next read the synopsis for the second TV episode I either click back on my browser to go back to the previous list or I can click on the 'Back to Main Page' link at the bottom of the synopsis.
What is the possibility of having a link at the bottom of the synopsis page to the previous or the next synopsis?

These are just my ideas, I realise Dom you are a busy man, but I would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks - Joel

All great ideas. Hopefully they aren't too hard to implement.
On the theme of shrinking the main page: perhaps an option to hide different media? For example, some people don't regard comic strips as 'proper' Who (silly people), while others such as myself just don't really buy any, so if we could hide those it would help. However, that does seem a bit more difficult than just hiding a Doctor.

I just realised I made the title of this thread about the 'Forum'... when the ideas actually relate to the website, silly me.

When I started the website, I used to add links to previous and next synopsis.

But each time I added a new entries between two, I had to change these other pages as well.

In the end, it was too much trouble.

There's probably some kind of script you could use for that, possibly by synchronising the main page with a database that could then be referred to for next in series, next in order, and so on. But I have no idea where you could find out about it. Hope the idea helps though.

May I request a Matt Smith Eleventh Doctor section of the forum? Obviously it is waaaaaaay to early to add him to the Reference Guide, but a forum section would be good, but there is no rush...

Definitely! Then we can see all the arguments about "he's too young", he doesn't look like a Doctor", "this one will be the moody/Emo Doctor" "he'll restore Gallifrey and explore all his complexes about his past" and so on. I always find nonsense such fun, don't you?

No, seriously, I would like to see what people really think of the Smith Doctor before he airs. And I don't have his DWM interview to go on either, but I guess it says things like "we're working hard to make him unique" and I'm delving into my own personality to find the way I'll play him", i.e. things that make you feel that its going well but keep it all a secret. Which is pleasing and irritating. =)

Is it worth adding a section for the newish spin-off K9 Adventures? (The first episode of which is being shown in the UK over the weekend) Many people consider this a spin-off too far, so I wouldn't be surprised if you chose not to include it...
