 Freedom and degrees of truth
« Thread Started on Sept 20, 2009, 9:50pm »

Hi

I recently listened to these two audio plays in the seggested order on the list and found them to be out of sequence.

Both plays happen directly after the events of the Deamons.

Degrees of truth makes mention in the diologue the Freedom coporation or incident, putting this tale just after Freedom.

A very good point! I can't quite remember as its been a year or more since I listened to Degrees Of Truth, but I don't think there was anything to suggest that one story directly follows the other. However, the Freedom incident is definitely referred to. This is because Degrees Of Truth was written especially for the audiobook, and therefore McIntee had ample time to read Cole's story (Freedom).

Freedom certainly happens very soon after the conclusion of The Daemons, judging by the dialogue from early on in the story.

I wasn't implying that Degrees of truth happens directly after Freedom, just they both happen directly after Deamons.

Freedom is about the Masters attempted escape just after his capture at the end of season 8. Degrees of truth concerns the aftermath of soldiers death during Deamons and his funeral. This would happen very soon after Deamons.

Were it not for the reference to freedom in the dialog of Degrees, it would make more sense that they would have had time to bury their dead (Degrees), before the masters preplanned escape bid could spring into action (Freedom).

I wasn't implying that you were implying that! =)
I was just making the general point that they didn't have to follow directly. In fact, from what I recall there is no reason why Degrees couldn't take place during the first part of Freedom. But you may be able to point that out as wrong.

I take your point, that they may be concurrent. My point is to establish a correct reading order. As, degrees refers to events that happen in freedom, it is best to listen to it second rather than first. As, I found the refference confusing.

Well there we go, the matter is settled. Hopefully next time Dominique has a moment he can reverse the order.
